The Data Synchronization System (DSS) is an application with a built-in tool-set that can move, transform and validate data between otherwise disparate systems. This system can be used to build identity management, EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) solutions.

DSS has adapters for connecting to:

General

  • Command Line Interface (CLI)
  • Database (any JDBC compliant DB)
  • LDAP (AD, eDir, OpenLDAP, etc)
  • Text (any text source CSV, LDIF, XML, etc)
  • Web Services

System

  • Google Apps
  • Groupwise
  • KeepnTrack
  • Zendesk
  • Live@EDU
  • Salesforce.com

DSS is made up of user-defined action-sets that are processed by the DSS “engine” using a scheduler. Action-sets contain actions that can perform data transformations and communicate with external systems via “adapters”.

For example, you can use the DSS to construct an action-set to synchronize staff records in a database (Database Adapter) as user objects in Active Directory (LDAP Adapter). This requires transformation logic to create object names, generate password, find matching objects and properly place objects.

We have pre-defined action-sets for many common functions such as:

  • Provisioning MS Exchange
  • Provisioning Employees, students, volunteers, etc into AD
  • Provisioning Employees, Students, Volunteers, etc into eDir
  • Provisioning Home Folders and Department Shares
  • Group provisioning (departments, jobs, schools, etc)

With DSS, it is possible to build action-sets to meet just about any need.

With DSS’s API interface, it is possible to integrate with Sharepoint, Remedy, Serina and a host of other products that provide workflow capabilities.
