The Data Synchronization System (DSS) is an application with a built-in tool-set that can move, transform and validate data between otherwise disparate systems. This system can be used to build IDM (Identity Management), EAI (Enterprise Application Integration), ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and Configuration Management solutions. DSS also has a powerful reporting engine that allows for real-time reporting against the data assets housed in your connected systems.

DSS is made up of user-defined action-sets that are processed by the DSS “engine” using a scheduler or an API trigger. Action-sets contain actions that can perform data transformations and communicate with external systems via “adapters”. For example, you can use the DSS to construct an action-set to synchronize staff records from a database (Database Adapter) as user objects in Active Directory (LDAP Adapter). This requires transformation logic to create object names, generate passwords, find matching objects and properly place objects. With DSS, it is possible to build action-sets to meet just about any need. With DSS’s API interface, it is possible to integrate with Sharepoint, Remedy, Serina and a host of other products that provide workflow capabilities.
