Presentation Information

We will be presenting alongside Pasedena Unified School District's Chief Information Technology Officer, Tendaji Jamal, at this year's conference. Our presentation, From Chaos to Control: How Pasadena USD Increased Efficiency & Security with Modern IAM, will take place on Friday, November 16th at 8:00 AM PST in room 303. Attend to learn about waves of students and staff moving in and out of the district, ever-looming security threats, and mounting pressure to build a robust EdTech program—managing constant change with limited staff resources was the name of the game for Pasadena USD’s IT department. However, with more than 20,000 user accounts, spreadsheets and manual processes were a time-drain that was preventing IT staff from focusing on more strategic initiatives. For the district, modern Identity and Access Management (IAM) wasn’t just a solution, it was a necessity. This session explores how Pasadena USD leveraged modern IAM to automate identity lifecycle management for all users, increase security, and provide an enhanced user experience for students and staff via single sign-on and kid-friendly QR badge authentication. Learn how modern IAM enabled the district to go from four employees managing accounts full-time to a single staff member, all while rolling out a future-forward 1:1 technology program that spanned all grades. Hear firsthand as Pasadena USD’s CTO, Tendaji Jamal shares best practices and strategies for a successful IAM implementation that accelerates edtech adoption and increases staff productivity.
