Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) with RapidIdentity MFA

2FA Inc. was acquired by Identity Automation in 2016, and 2FA ONE is now a component of the RapidIdentity platform. RapidIdentity delivers the most complete range of identity, access, governance and administration capabilities available. We offer your organization the flexibility to deploy Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) or Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as stand-alone solutions or as part of a complete, integrated IAM platform.

And, by offering the broadest selection of authentication methods in the marketplace, we make it easy for organizations of all sizes and budgets, across industries to balance security, compliance requirements, and user experience.

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Passwords are the most common form of authentication used in the world today. But unfortunately, passwords are one of the least secure forms of authentication—commonly forgotten and easily compromised. Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to use two different authentication factors to verify their identity. Password-based authentication can be augmented with an additional authentication method or even eliminated altogether. A combination of any two of the three authentication types can be used:

  • Something you know (e.g. password)
  • Something you have (e.g. token)
  • Something you are (e.g. fingerprint)

The Benefits of Two-Factor Authentication

Identity Automation simplifies and strengthens authentication processes by replacing or strengthening passwords with stronger authentication technology. And unlike solutions that take a one-size-fits-all approach to authentication, RapidIdentity MFA adapts to your organization’s unique needs. Our flexible solution enables you to tailor the authentication methods used based on an individual user’s location or situation and the risk level of a logon event.

Whether implemented as a stand-alone solution or part of a complete IAM solution, RapidIdentity MFA’s 12 supported authentication methods deliver additional layers of protection across all entry points, such as Windows logon, VPNs, external email and portal access, and hosted cloud apps. So, you can meet compliance regulations, while minimizing disruptions to your end-users—all without breaking your IT budget.
