RFID Authentication RFID Authentication

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) utilizes radio waves to communicate a unique identifier between a tag embedded in an RFID card and an RFID reader to verify a user’s identity and grant access. RFID is in broad use throughout the world for building access and is considered a preferred form of authentication for users due to the ease of use and its multi-purpose capabilities.

How RFID Authentication Works With RapidIdentity MFA

With RFID authentication, a user presents the RFID device to a connected reader, such as USB, embedded, PCMCIA, or PC Express reader, and RapidIdentity MFA identifies the user’s information. There is no need to enter a username, but the user can optionally be required to enter a PIN or password.

RapidIdentity MFA provides broad support for embedded and USB connected RFID readers and supports over 40 forms of RFID technology in various devices. Additionally, RapidIdentity MFA manages the lifecycle of both 125 kHz and 13.56 kHz devices.
